Creating a specific macro in Word 2007?

I'd like to create a macro in Word 2007 that works as follows. ALT-X will automatically move the cursor to a specific point in a document denoted by an asterisk (*). I have this macro in WordPerfect and would love to have it in Word. Unfortunately, I've never created a macro in Word 2007. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!
