I have an old(er) hard drive. Is it compatible with my current system?

I removed a 60 gig WD Cav black hard drive from an older computer that was in my closet(it dates Oct. 6th 2003.). If this hard drive has the same ribbon AND SATA connector as my current system and hard drive have is this compatible? I am wanting to wipe then load Ubuntu on the old one. Thanks.
