I have a question about a bug I just killed.?

I think I just killed a crane fly...but I'm not sure. I looked at pictures online and that's what it looked like. Well before it died, I was watching it lay on the floor and squirm...and out of it's needle-like tail it dropped several tiny black dots. About the size of an asterisk * it's really bothering me because I don't know if it was eggs, or blood, or poop. Please help me understand.
