How much difference is there between performance of intel core i5 2500k and core i7 2600k in gaming?

Zilch. The i7 2600k is great for multimedia and other jobs that utilize more than four cores. I don't know of any game that uses more than four, so there's really no advantage to it over an i5 2500k.
