Does a "raid edition" (specifically a WD re4) hard drive need to be run in raid configuration?

I'm debating between getting a WD re4 and a caviar black hard drive for a computer build. The caviar black is larger so they are the same price but i only wanted to get one drive and not run it in any kind of raid. will this be a problem if i got the raid edition hard drive? i really want it because it has much longer reliability but if it wont work, i'll be fine with larger capacity. just looking for some input.
